I love you, O LORD, my strength,
O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.

Daily Reflections for 8th April 2022 | Catholic Friday
Many areas of our world have suffered the consequences of climate-related events: destructive hurricanes, the spread of fierce wildfires, the power of calamitous mudslides and the disappearance of ice and land masses. So the descriptive words of Psalm 18 may strike a particular resonance with us. Perhaps we can now more easily picture the surging breakers of death and the might of destructive floods.
Perhaps we can more fully understand the reassurance offered by solid rock and the security and shelter of a fortress. Hopefully, we can also pray the words of the psalmist even when—and perhaps, especially when—we find ourselves in need of the strength of the divine rock and fortress who is ever with us.
Loving God, Holy One, lead me to deeper trust in your love that never abandons.
